Henry VIII - England's Most Controversial King

Talk by Dave Walmsley - 9th June

Known for his 6 wives – there is much more to this king. He fought wars against the French and the Scots; he began to reform the country’s religious beliefs. He destroyed the monasteries and built palaces, fortresses and the navy. What made him tick?
The talk will also look at the King’s leading ministers – including Thomas Wolsey and Thomas Cromwell – both of whom served him loyally but ended up condemned.

Peter Baugh Celebration Concert - 8th June 2025

On the 8th June 2025, Sale Festival Committee were very pleased to host a concert to celebrate Peter Baugh.
Peter, together with his late wife Councillor Jane Baugh, has been an enthusiastic supporter of the arts in Trafford for many years.
This concert was an opportunity to thank him before an audience of his family and friends.
Ably compered by Nicola Dodd, we heard from Sale Brass Band, the Alma Singers Mike Hall & Robin Dewhurst, Spotlight Drama and Peter played his piano piece "In Memory of Jane".
Garth Jones (President of Sale Festival Committee) presented Peter with a Welsh rugby shirt.

Sale Cruising Club Boat Parade - 7th June

Many thanks to Sale Cruising Club for, once again, hosting the annual Sale Festival Boat Parade.

The Mayor of Trafford (Cllr Jane Brophy) with her consort on board "Kalliste" with Derek East, the Commodore of Sale Cruising Club.

On board "Jambow" our hosts were Bob Rule Captain) and Jackie Rule and not forgetting Rudy the dog.
Jackie kindly provided wine and nibbles!

Guests in the cabin were Garth Jones (President of Sale Festival), Mrs Gill Jones, Barry Brotherton, Mr Mark Eaton and Mrs Jane Eaton who is invisible as she took the photos.

Sale Photographic Society Exhibition
& Awards Ceremony

The theme of this year's competition was "Leisure Activities"

The Mayor of Trafford Councillor Jane Brophy and her Consort attended this event on the evening of Friday 6th June in the HiYa Room at Stanley Square.

Entries were judged by Sale Festival President Garth Jones. Garth bought his first camera in the 1960's.  He saw it in a shop window, and liked it so much he bought it. It cost him £9.

His film was B+W and he did all his home processing to make the final prints. 

And of course he still has the camera.
