Henry VIII - England's most Controversial King - Talk by Dave Walmsley
‘Henry V111- England’s most Controversial King’ , a talk by Dave Walmsley, Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society
Known for his 6 wives – there is much more to this king. He fought wars against the French and the Scots; he began to reform the country’s religious beliefs. He destroyed the monasteries and built palaces, fortresses and the navy. What made him tick?
The talk will also look at the King’s leading ministers – including Thomas Wolsey and Thomas Cromwell – both of whom served him loyally but ended up condemned.

Trafford Music Service Ensembles and Soloists
Our ensembles include our Intermediate String Ensemble and Trafford Music Service String Quartet. The members of Intermediate Strings are aged 8 to14 years. The String Quartet members are all students from our Philharmonic Orchestra. We also have a special Flute Ensemble and Cello Ensemble performing. Members of the Flute Ensemble are students in our Sinfonia and Philharmonic Orchestras, and members of the Cello ensemble are aged 6 to17. Between the ensembles soloists will perform on a variety of instruments.

Gorse Hill Studios 10 for 10 Showcase
Gorse Hill Studios (GHS) is an award-winning creative arts charity for children and young people, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To launch this occasion, we are showcasing our young people's talent.
Come and join us to celebrate our young people, with performances from some of the most outstanding creative talent from the last decade. It will be a night to remember with dance, music, laughter and creative artistry.
GHS works with some of the most marginalised YP in the UK, including global majority, care experienced and those with special educational needs and disabilities. Despite significant challenges, the young people and the charity have had some astonishing successes. This project represents an opportunity to showcase the musical and creative inspiration behind GHS.

The acts may contain explicit language in lyrics or spoken word of the performances.
We will also be showcasing short films, which explore themes that some people may find upsetting.

Summer Soul with the Soul Federation
The Soul Federation is an award-winning band playing Soul, Northern Soul and Blues Brothers hits. They play classic soul the way it should be played – no synths! With appearances at the legendary Cavern Club to close the Liverpool 2024 Mod Weekender the band know how to have a good time. Appearances at Dubbed Out Festival 2024 and Roughley’s Bike show 2024 demonstrate their appeal to audiences of all ages and styles.
This 10-piece band of experienced musicians started setting dance floors alight across the North West and beyond in 2017. With a full horn section and harmony vocals Soul Federation create that classic soul sound for a great night out.
If you like Stevie Wonder, Frank Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Kool and the Gang, Candi Staton, and Blues Brothers etc this is the show for you.

Bridgewater Blues Band
Bridgewater Blues Band have been playing the North West Blues circuit since 2008. They include three original members, Jon Ingham (guitar), Chris Milward, (bass) and Andy Hart (drums); and Chris Small (vocal & harmonica) who has appeared at Colne Blues Festival, and Knutsford, Chorlton and Sale Festivals. The Band are due to play at the Ribble Valley Jazz-Blues Festival in 2025. Their sound and arrangements are original and authentic, capturing the spirit of Mississippi, Memphis and Chicago Blues at its best.
